The Power of Ten Tobacco Free program is an opportunity for youth leaders to work together to inform their peers and the community about the dangers of tobacco use. Teen members organize to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and advocate for a tobacco free environment in schools and throughout the community.

Power of Ten teens across Northeastern PA are working towards a tobacco free environment together!! The Power of Ten group in Monroe County is part of a larger initiative of Tobacco Free Northeast to facilitate a comprehensive tobacco control program in the Northeast Health district which includes the counties of Carbon, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming. This initiative aims to:

  • Prevent initiation of tobacco use among young people
  • Promote quitting among adults and young people
  • Eliminate nonsmokers' exposure to secondhand smoke
  • Identify and eliminate tobacco related health disparities.
